TECH CONNECTIONS

Note from the Chairman:

The most exciting time for all of us who work with technology is when a vision becomes reality. Our vision for a conference that brings the region’s technology leaders together is being realized with the upcoming Technology Leadership Forum on November 9th. In fact, I think we’ve exceeded our own expectations, with a phenomenal slate of speakers including Dr. Ron Sega, Undersecretary of the Air Force; Michael Moniz from Paladin Capital Group; and Keith Larson from Intel Capital.

This will be a great day for networking and discussing current technology trends and financing opportunities in the region. I look forward to RMTA members from various locations in the technology corridor coming together. I‘ll see you there.

Michael Semmens

Featured Member—Denver University:

Denver University’s School of Engineering and Computer Science prepares students for careers in computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering, offering small classes and emphasizing hands-on learning. The school has a broad interdisciplinary and international focus and emphasizes cooperation with industry and government. Over 70 companies serve on the school’s Industrial Advisory Boards, including Lockheed Martin, AMD, Medtronic, and Hewlett Packard.

DU engineers are also working with NASA, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, and an international research team to conduct experiments on climate change. Instruments designed and built by DU’s School of Engineering and Computer Science helped discover and track the development of the ozone hole over Antarctica. The SECS Computer Science Cybersecurity Team has been working with industry and government partners to combat internet crime. Many of you had the privilege of hearing the school’s dean, Dr. Rahmat Shoureshi, speak about how DU forms and participates in technology alliances at the RMTA semi-annual meeting last spring. For more information on DU’s School of Engineering and Computer Science, see http://www.du.edu/secs
